Beltana House Studio

A Historic 1860s Coach House Horse Stable in the eastern corner of Adelaide’s CBD

Beltana house is a unique venue where Cheryl lives, works and exhibits. In 1860, Beltana House Gallery, was originally horse stables. Today it’s a compelling and exotic place where visitors can pop into Cheryl’s studio, observe her at work and appreciate the magic, if not the inner world, of her portraits, animal sketches, landscapes and clothing.

UPCOMING EXHIBITIONSSALA 2023

‘Flying Solo’

Cheryl’s ‘Flying Solo’ SALA exhibition is a Celebration of Cheryl being nominated as a 2023 SALA Finalist and  Cheryl being a finalist in the last 3 National Textile Awards.

This is Cheryl’s 15th consecutive SALA solo.‘Flying Solo’ exhibition will showcase new works & her personal journey. These 50 new art works demonstrate Cheryl letting her imagination run free unravelling nature’s secrets & relevance in the form of figurative detailed embroidered wall art & tailored art to wear.

Cheryl’s skill & training in fine art is the foundation of her language of tactile freehand machine embroidery, using only her hands & eyes to guide unmarked canvas under the needle of a sewing machine she brings images to life (Not computerised designs or photos copied). Labour-intensive technique, immediate and spontaneous as millions of stitches & 100‘s of hours to create each artwork with no room for error.

Over 50 new wall art, couture quality art to wear and sketchbooks are on view in addition you can watch Cheryl create her magic at each opening in a venue drenched in history like no other in Adelaide.
