Cheryl to embroider the Governor’s portrait live!

His Excellency The Honourable Hieu Van Le AC Governor of South Australia has graciously agreed to sit this year to have his portrait done.

Live Embroidered Portraits

As part of the biennial Portrait Prize put on by the Royal S A society of Arts (RSASA) the RSASA has put out a challenge to artists to perform portraits of notable SA identities live in front of an audience.

This occurs as part of the South Australian Living Artists Festival (SALA Festival)

Cheryl has taken up this challenge for the last 4 events and has embroidered live

Hon Rachel Sanderson MP Minister for child protection. (This portrait now hangs in parliament house)

Ian Henschke (radio personality /journalist)

Amanda Pepe who was CEO of the Helpmann Academy, Adelaide

Invani  “Peter”Agalla a South Sudan refugee who has dedicated his life in Australia to helping others

This is quite a challenge as Cheryl cannot change or rub out her work, or paint over it, every stitch is final, she does half a million stitches with just her eyes, her hands, and her experience to guide her!

Come and see Cheryl embroider The Governor live on 30th July 2019 11 till 1 at the RSASA Gallery on North Terrace Adelaide.
