Cheryl’s 18th consecutive SALA SOLO Exhibition ‘Expect the Unexpected’

This year she has on show over 100 artworks from wall art to art to wear clothes some have been exhibited in USA, and UK where Cheryl has been guest artist. 

  • SALA has over 10,000 artist exhibiting this year marks the 4th time Cheryl has been a SALA Finalist. (3 times in the last five four years)
  • “Blooming Wave” is on show at the The Advertiser Contemporary Art Awards for the most outstanding contemporary works in any medium in SALA Festival 2026.
  • “The Nest”  (in the long room) won the 2026 ‘Brighton Sculpture’, Indoor Relief wall art and was finalist in the ‘Parklands Art Prize’ and a finalist in the ‘National Textile Art Award
  • One of 10 artists chosen to decorate in the Sneakers for Change Hutt St Centre SALA 2026 charity ‘Sole Purpose’ Cheryl donated over 80 hours of her time embroidering two shoes to be auctioned for this charity at Run DNA.
  • Cheryl is the current winner of the best use of embroidery in the last biennial Australian Textile Art Awards with her work “Hopes and Dreams” 
  • “Too Many Knots” on view here was featured the “Ties” exhibition at Fabrik Arts + Heritage showcased the art and process of knotting. It ran as part of the Adelaide Fringe. 
  • Awarded a UNESCO award for excellence in fine art embroidery and her services to art.
  • Art in Adelaide videos is run by Alex and Victoria, with 107 videos of artists in Adelaide, Cheryl’s views are approaching 20,000; 3,000 views greater than the second highest artist.
  • Cheryl’s Painting ‘Forces of Change’ was chosen by Professor Ruth Rentchler for the cover of her book ‘Governance in the Global Art World’ published by Routledge in Oxford .
  • International magazine Inspirations Magazine #130 featured 2 different 3 page articles on Cheryl
  • ‘Textile Fibre Forum’ September issue #159 Pages.12-19 
  • Cheryl has recommitted herself to her art full time since 2010 and in this time produced and exhibited 940 artworks. Over 600 of these have gone to new homes.
  • Cheryl is one of only 2 embroidery artists in the world included the curated NASA, Lunar Codex time capsule to the Moon to be launched in 2026 on the SpaceX Polaris Shuttle.
  • This year for SALA Cheryl is exhibiting at 6 venues 3 shops on Hutt Street,The Advertiser Building her SALA Finalist piece, Hutt St Sole Purpose fund raiser and her main exhibition at Beltana House Studio an 1860s horse stable right in the heart of the Adelaide CBD (364 Carrington St).
